NORWEGIAN ENERGY MAJOR EQUINOR SETS UP INDIA OFFICE

Permanent offices demonstrate the Norwegian company’s commitment to India amidst growing bilateral business ties.

Norwegian Ambassador Hans Jacob Frydenlund officially opened the offices of Norwegian energy major Equinor at a grand ceremony last week. The new offices, located in New Delhi, will act as Indian headquarters and lead the company’s increasing activity in India.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Frydenlund expressed how he was happy to see Equinor entering the Indian energy segment now, noting that the Indian energy sector “is forecasted to witness growth like never before in coming years”.

Equinor, originally known as Statoil, is Norway’s largest energy company and is a world-leading producer of hydrocarbons and renewable energy. The company has in recent years invested heavily in developing new technologies and business models that reduce carbon footprint. The company has now grown to become a major actor in the market for renewable wind power and is a world leader in developing technologies for carbon capture, use and storage (CCUS). This expertise will now be readily available for deployment in India.

“I believe that Equinor, with its global experience, will be able to bring innovative low carbon energy systems to India”, the Ambassador concluded before officially declaring the Delhi offices open,/p>
