Diplomatic delegation to Goa for Maritime/Marine/Skilling


A maritime cluster in Goa has the potential to change the regional economic situation. It has the ability to provide a thriving maritime business which was evident in Goa’s maritime history.

Norwegian Business Association India thus organized a diplomatic delegation to visit important places specifically in interest of maritime & marine development in Goa from 20th November, 2017 to 23rd November, 2017.
The delegation was led by H.E. Ms. Ann Ollestad Consul General of Norway and NBAI chairman Capt Navin Passey

It extensively covered areas of maritime, fisheries, skilling, research and development as areas of key importance.

It primarily comprised of Norwegian companies existing in India now eager to expand their commercial nexus within the state of Goa.

Focus areas of delegation covered a wide range of business interest including Shipbuilding ,skilling technologies, Sagarmala port development, river navigation , inland vessel transport, polar research, Indo Norwegian artic research, maritime schools, aquaculture and aquafarming, upcoming fishing harbours, development of inland waterways in goa, deep sea mining initiatives on whole.

Visits were made to important organisations such as Goa Shipyard, Mormugoa Port trust, NCAOR, NIO, Institute of shipbuilding technology and Institute of maritime studies, Secretariat of Fisheries & Ports, Captain of Ports- Goa during the trip.

Chief Representatives from crucial Norwegian companies like, Kongsberg Maritime, DNVGL, Norinco, Marinor, DNB, Wallem Shipmanagement, Aatash Norcontrol, Odfjell, Rolls Royce Marine, Goltens India, Aker Biomarine, Herald Maritime, Whilhemsen Maritime Services, and Norway Chamber of Commerce of India were present in the delegation.

The backdrop for the visit was also to present the white paper on the oceans in Norway`s foreign development policies and the role of the business sector.

The delegation included a representative from MEA Oslo, Mr. Svein Atle Michelsen as well.
