Norwegian Business Climate Survey in Mumbai

The Norwegian Business Association India (NBAI) & Royal Norwegian Consulate General, Mumbai in Collaboration with the Commercial section of Royal Norwegian Embassy, Delhi (INNOVATION NORWAY) were interested in understanding the current and near future Business Climate for Norwegian companies.

Because of the majority of Norwegian companies in India are established in the maritime sector, we also conducted an in-depth analysis to understand the Indian maritime sector to get a more focused evaluation of the business climate.

To meet this requirement we conducted the Business Climate Surveys with the objective of assessing the business confidence of Norwegian companies in India in terms of the opportunities and challenges that lie in relation to doing business with a general and maritime perspective. This would also serve as a valuable input to Norwegian companies.

The final findings through the research potentially serve as an input for discussions and engagement with the Government of India, State governments and other stakeholders. The survey would also be presented in different places of Norway.

This year’s survey captures the input from 90 plus Norwegian companies established in India for a general overview with a response rate of 81%.

The majority of the Norwegian companies are established in Maharashtra, Delhi NCR, and Karnataka and this year’s survey also provides an insight into opportunities and challenges in each state.

Biggest Norwegian Companies Present in India are mainly Telenor, Statkraft, DNB, Aker Solutions, Jotun, MTR FOODS, Evry India, Kongsberg, DNV GL and many more.

The largest Indian companies in Norway are HLC Technologies, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Teck Mahindra’s IT branch.

Important sectors for Norway in India are mainly Maritime, Oil & Gas, Information technology, Clean Tech, Defence, Energy, Marine, and Seafood.

The survey is planned to be launched in Mumbai on the 23rd December, 2016 at JW Marriot, Sahar by the Industries Minister of the state of Maharashtra, Mr. Subhash Desai.

A similar release is planned at the capital for the Norwegian cluster on 1st December, 2016 at Royal Norwegian Embassy, New Delhi and we look forward to a decent participation from most Nordic companies and missions.
