The DNV GL South Asia National Committee Meeting was held on the 14th November 2019 at St. Regis Mumbai and had Managing Directors and CEOs from Major Customers from the Indian Sub-continent attending the meeting.
The Meeting was kicked off with a welcome note by Mr. Knut Orbeck Nilssen, CEO – DNV GL Maritime. The Aim of the Committee is:
1. to give an opportunity to the Members to bring forward burning issues and facilitate discussions, exchange of opinions and experiences between the Members, and
2. to give feedback to the members and DNV GL for further considerations and actions to the benefit of the local shipping community.
The meeting boasted of some interesting presentations and discussions including the DNVGL Energy Transition Outlook 2050 with updates from 2019, Market Review highlighting the changes in the Regional Maritime Business, Environment Regulations and the impact of Sulphur 2020 on the business. There was a special presentation by Ali Shehab Ahmad, CEO, Kuwait Oil Tanker Company highlighting the Energy Efficiency initiatives undertaken in KOTC.
The meeting ended at 1930 hours and was followed by a cocktail reception and dinner. There was a gathering of about 100 people including Technical Managers and Superintendents from the major Companies of the Industry.
