India bans single use plastic on ships in domestic waters

India has become the first country in the world to ban single use plastics on ships calling domestic ports or transiting Indian waters. The ban will be implemented in two stages and see certain items banned immediately
The ban will see certain items barred immediately and further items being banned from January 1, next year.
